It’s the most wonderful time of the year! As fall comes to and end we are excited for a beautiful winter in South Jersey. You may not normally think of visiting the shore in the winter, but I am here to change your mind! There are lots of free holiday events,  this year near The Pitney House.

1.) Historic Smithville- This one may have been predictable, but Historic Smithville is a sight to see during the Holidays. With 60 Shoppes, 5 restaurants, a holiday train ride, and amazing floating light show on the lake, visiting Smithville is a full day trip. Stop by the Smithville Inn for a delicious and romantic dinner as you watch the amazing light show light up the lake to holiday songs. Stroll through the Village with a hot chocolate or fresh apple cider. The stores here are ready for the holidays so you can even get a head start on your christmas shopping! Each weekend the village has free events, make sure to plan your trip accordingly and check out their list of free holiday events here.

2.) An Olde Fashion Christmas in Cape May-  Victorian Cape May will transform into a Dickens Village for the Holiday season.  From Nov, 19 to Jan 2 2021 Cape May will be decorated to impress. An easy 30 minute drive down the parkway, Cape May is a great day trip from The Pitney House.

3.) See a show in the City- Running off to Atlantic City for the night can be a romantic thrill. The lights, luxurious food, and outstanding live music performances, a trip to the city makes for a night to remember. As concerts start rebooking Atlantic City is packed with Holiday Shows and concerts! The city is a 10 minute ride from The Pitney House, and ubers are very accessible! 

4.) Stay in! at The Pitney House- Simply escaping to The Jonathan Pitney House is a enlightening day to itself. Plus, we are running some winter escape discounts this month to give you a discounted stay but the same amazing experience. Sometimes all we need is a day away! Stay warm inside our historical and rustic bed and breakfast. Sit by the oversized, originally, fireplace and read about the history of the city. Or make a warm apple cider and play one of the mayn old fashioned board games we have stored for you. Take a warm bubble bath in a bear claw tub while enjoying a locally sourced wine and cheese package to feel a little extra luxurious.  A 3 minute walk down the road will get you to two different bar/restaurants to grab a nightcap and some food. Or order in from the many different restaurants in Absecon.
