Tanger Outlets The Walk
Looking to do shopping? Located in the middle of Atlantic City, the Tanger Outlets have over 100 brand name stores to select from. Nearby there are several restaurants to choose from.
Historic Smithville:
The quaint Towne of Historic Smithville is located just a few minutes down the road from The Pitney House. With 60 diverse shoppes, 6 eateries, a carousel and train ride, paddle boats, and 26 free weekend events, Smithville is a great day trip to make during your stay!
Days of Old
This Antique Center is the mainstay of historic collectibles and antiques in the Jersey Shore.With 16,000 square feet of rare, unique and storied pieces, there is a section for every taste. Get lost for an hour or spend the day among mementos of bygone eras, relics of vintage vogue and snapshots of the past. The Days of Old is a must stop when visiting our area.
B&B Farms
B&B Farms is a great stop in south jersey to pick fresh organic blueberries at a local farm. Picking dates are June 15 to August 1st and one hour can reward you with as many as 2 gallons of Blueberries! Click the following link for their seasons and hours.
Absecon Lighthouse
We’re just minutes away from the Absecon Lighthouse, which is a 171 foot yellow and black tower that was built in 1857 to mark the dangerous shores of Absecon and Brigantine. Dr. Jonathan Pitney himself is one of the main reasons the light house was built. My Pitney had many travels down the shore during his time in Absecon, therefore he was aware and concerned about the numerous shipwrecks. He sent to congress to have the lighthouse built, and they soon agreed. After the lighthouse was built in 1857, it immediately attracted thousands of visitors to climb its 228 steps overlooking Absecon. The Absecon Lighthouse still retains its original first order Fresnel lens, which is the only New Jersey light to do so.

Gardner’s Basin:
Spend the day at the bay at Historic Gardner’s Basin, nestled on a protected channel along the back bays, directly across from the state marina and Coast Guard station. This bayside park offers shopping, dining, fishing and sightseeing boat rides for all ages.From distinctive hand-crafted gifts in the Crafters Village and unique boutiques, to dolphin-watching and sightseeing cruises, Historic Gardner’s Basin is the perfect destination to spend a delightful hour, an afternoon or the day by the bay.
Atlantic City Aquarium
Located at the Historic Gardner’s Basin and a must see. The Aquarium offers an interactive aquarium and special events like the “Dive and Dine” that features the aquarium’s diver in the 25,000 gallon “Fish of the Mid-Atlantic” tank. Audiences can watch and interact with the diver as she hand-feeds cow nose rays, swims with nurse sharks, and dives with dogfish in the tank. The Atlantic City Aquarium’s Loggerhead Sea Turtle tank is one of the many crowd pleasing tanks.
Great American Trolley Tour
Relive the Golden Era of the 1920’s in Atlantic City when the city was the premier place to visit with its grand hotels, a beach teeming with visitors, ‘Speakeasies,’ and a free-wheeling nightlife. This fully narrated tour includes lunch at The Irish Pub. You should defiantly make Trolley Tours part of your stay.
Lucy the Elephant
Climb the world’s largest elephant! Lucy the Elephant is National Historic Landmark! This elephant stands six stories high and from the howdah on her back you can see a spectacular 360 degree view of the surrounding shore area. There is a guided tour and picnic area.
